Questions about chatting on Chatlib India.
Understand how joining, messages and privacy work before starting a conversation. These answers describe the current service for adults aged 18 and over.
Can I chat online for free without an account?
Yes. Adults aged 18 or over can choose a nickname, age and country, confirm the terms and enter as a guest. A phone number, email address and app download are not required.
How do I find a conversation?
Start with a public room that matches your interests. Read the recent discussion and ask one relevant question. Room availability does not guarantee that someone is online or will reply.
How do private chats work?
Select a person from the directory and send a private invitation. The recipient must accept before private messages, images or voice notes can be shared. Respect declined invitations.
Will my chat remain after I go offline?
The same browser can restore your saved session and conversation after a temporary disconnection. Sessions can expire after seven days without activity. Clearing browser storage can remove guest access. Delivered text history is separate from media and disappearing-message expiry.
What happens when a guest logs out?
Explicit logout ends that guest identity. Joining again with the same nickname creates a new identity and does not recover the old private conversations. A registered account can log in again to access its retained history.
Can I change my country and state?
Yes. The form attempts an approximate network-based location and you can select another country and its mapped state or region. This is not GPS verification and does not guarantee nearby matches.
Are voice notes the same as voice calls?
No. Voice notes are recorded messages in accepted private chats. Recording needs microphone permission, HTTPS and a supported browser. The recording interface stops at 60 seconds; uploads have a 6 MB limit.
Do disappearing images prevent screenshots?
No. Normal media expires after 24 hours. View-once media has a 15-second access window after the recipient first opens it. Another person can still capture or save content. Share only what you are comfortable sending.
How can I handle unwanted contact?
Open the person’s profile to block or report them. Do not send money, passwords or identifying documents to strangers. Public messages are visible to other room participants, and messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
